What You Cannot Take to Other Countries
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials point out that many countries have restrictions on what may be brought into the country, including food, pets and medications. Even over-the-counter medications may be prohibited in some countries.
When you return home, please note that some items may not be brought into the U.S. or may only be brought in under certain restrictions. For the most current list of restricted items check out the CBP list.
For information on U.S. customs regulations and procedures, see the CBP booklet “Know Before You Go”. The booklet is more than 60 pages long, otherwise, we’d offer it right here for you to read. However, you may want to review its table of contents to select the information that applies to your particular plans. Here is the link to find it on the upper right side of the main CBP website: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation/kbyg/prohibited_restricted.xml
